Miscellaneous urgency
23 minutes before I need to log in for work, trying to update this but also wondering where the morning went. I woke up at 7 AM, dragged myself out of bed at 7:30, showered, made coffee, made toast, put away dishes, and somehow here I am wondering where the morning went.
This morning is probably an accurate representation of how the past couple of months have been going.
The baby’s due date is only a little more than two months away at this point. What originally felt like an impossible number of weeks has shortened into something I can count on two hands. Two hands’ worth of weeks to do all the miscellaneous tasks I have in a google spreadsheet that suddenly feel urgent. Repair a hole in a sweater. Fix our structurally unsound coffee table. Deep clean under the bed. And those are just the things unrelated to the baby herself.
I’m a little overwhelmed.
There are pockets of solace here and there, though. Frothy coffee drinks I blend in the Vitamix (a handful of nuts/hemp seeds, a date, coconut butter, decaf coffee) - always a little gritty from whatever nuts I throw in when I should probably be using nut butter instead.
Dinners with our friends when I’m inspired to cook (corn & potato chowder, smokey heirloom beans, lentil & carrot sloppy joes.)
The old comfort standby: cauliflower, cashews, lemon juice, and basil blended into a creamy pasta sauce (roasted tofu & salad on the side this time.)
And bags of farmers market produce that have been increasingly harder to carry to my third floor apartment.
Just like that - I’m out of time.
